Vigraha Pratistha
Vigraha Pratistha
Vigraha Pratiṣṭha (విగ్రహ ప్రతిష్ఠ) is the sacred ceremony of consecrating and formally installing the deity’s idol (Vigraha) in the sanctum of a Hindu temple. It is one of the most significant rituals in Devalaya Pratiṣṭha. Through prescribed Vedic mantras, homams, pujas, and purification rituals, the divine presence of the presiding deity is ritually invoked into the Vigraha. The ceremony culminates in the formal installation of the deity in the Garbhagriha, after which regular worship and temple rituals commence. Vigraha Pratiṣṭha symbolizes the establishment of divine presence, spiritual energy, and sacredness within the temple, and devotees seek the blessings of the deity for peace, prosperity, happiness, and the welfare of the community.
